1) Comparisons of gays and lesbians to white supremecist groups and prostitutes is not fair, but then again, I hardly think of sex workers as being in the same class as white supremacists! (sex for money sound perfectly reasonable, though illegal. Hatred based on skin color is idiotic. And a racist sex worker would simply be self-defeating. FICTIONAL me-as-worker: "Honey, you're skin can be any color as long as your money is green." And green is the color of the day, n'est-ce pas?

2) Some of these homophobic 'Oirish'-'Murikan's need to be asked- just how are *YOU* different from the White Supremacists.

3) Even though I'm sure the writer of the article should not be assumed to share the bigotry of some of the people he was interviewing, still I felt she should have thought through this particular line: Organizers...[clip]...have barred an Irish gay and lesbian group for 16 straight years.

*Ahem**clears throat* They were pretty straight indeed I suppose!

4) I'm not sure the group named the Irish Queers took the most reasonable approach to their protest. Then again, there isn't enough information regarding the nature of the military groups they were protesting so that I could have a fully formed opinion of their protest. I know in times past I've commented (not here in LJ, but to acquaintences IRL) that I wish queer activists would show more solidarity with other progressive activists, yet still, I do not see the logic in protesting FOR inclusion into a parade, you should turn around and protest AGAINST others inclusion. (Ummmm...did I make any sense at all with that last one?)
